Default 1928 1929 Tudor top welt pictures needed.

Morning all,
I getting ready to order top welt material and don’t know, since the car had no top, what is used on the ends of the welt at both the front of the car and where the rear welt comes across to the two sides.

Are there caps or trim pieces? Please post or send me some pics. PM me for an email address if needed.

Thanks all,
Cliff Ramsdell

Pretty good pictures in the restoration guidelines book. The front uses "hidem and end caps. The rear of the top is metal with special end caps where the metal strip meets the metal drip rail. There are 2 types of hidem and 5 types of roof mouldings plus 3 versions of drip mouldings with charts that sort it all out relative to year and body type. Most parts catalogues have enough variety to get by but the info in the guidelines is about the only way to know what went where.

I have seen the various hidem caps and trim but don’t have the book you speak of.

While I don’t want to mention it my car isn’t “stock” but I was looking for pics of a stock setup.

Thanks,

If the following link works, you will see how the roof material and trim was originally installed on a 1929 Tudor. Originally, there was no welt around the roof material, it was all metal, including the drip rails. I would think that if you are using welt instead of the original type metal trim, then you might be able to use the same type of end clips. However, since you are using welt, then you might have to choose something that fits your welt. Bratton's has roof molding tips in their catalog. www.brattons.com
