Assembly plant number help
Body number TC709. I know the TC stands for Twin Cities Plant. Any help on the 709 would be greatly appreciated. Pat

Re: Assembly plant number help
I believe "709" stands for the 709th body of this type to go through the assembly line at Twin Cities Assembly Plant. According to the 1928 Assembly Record Types document, 907 bodies of the Open Cab went through the assembly line in 1928. It DOES NOT indicate the original body color.
Is there a date on the original gas tank or has the gas tank been changed out to another? Pluck |

Re: Assembly plant number help
Pat,
I believe that the number after the plant letter ID is the number of the body styles assembled so far at the plant. So your AA truck would be the 709th AA truck assembled at the Twin Cities plant. Dave Sturges has a record/log of body numbers from various model A vehicles. Maybe he will read this string and further explain his findings. BTW, your AA truck really looks nice for a 89 year old vehicle that has not been restored. I hope you more or less leave it like it is, as they are only original once. I wish my four vehicles looked as nice as your AA when I bought them. Rusty Nelson |

Re: Assembly plant number help
Thank you all !
Rusty, I got in touch with the previous owner (before the consignment place, where I bought it) tonight. He sold the truck due to health issues and I will be meeting him next week to get both histories. Fred will be the first driver and he said he'd teach me to drive it !! The truck is 80% done, plus10% new parts in boxes, so all I have to come up with is a month and a little cash. Doors will be painted tomorrow and cab will follow in the next few weeks. I believe I have a high speed rear end too, but I've been wrong before. 5.17 30x5 speedo drive gear and hoping a matching rear end. Thanks, Pat |

Re: Assembly plant number help
My avatar picture will be changing as soon as my cab is done and bolted down. I've given my roadster to my body man, so another Ford will be on the road in short order. The nice thing about having a friend with a body shop ? It's certainly not learning how to sand a door yourself !! Great guy and quality work, but that comes with a price unless your willing to do some of the work yourself. I make sure he's not punched in when he's showing me how to feather out another layer of Bondo. P.S. very little Bondo on these doors, because I sanded almost all of it off. Everyone have a great day, Pat
