Magneto horn question?
Can you run a magneto horn on 12V dc power. I realize that they are meant to run on 10 to 28 V ac from the magneto. Thanks

Re: Magneto horn question?
No you can not operate an AC horn on DC. DC power would only attract the diaphragm to the magnet coil like a magnet. AC has a wave form that's on off to pull then releases the diaphragm making the horn work. An AC toy train transformer would work.

Re: Magneto horn question?
Yes I have tested it on 12V ac train transformer and the horn works well. It don't work well on the magneto however. I checked the mag output and it is pushing 20+ AC volts. I will try to adjust the diaphrame. It's just a guess how to set it I guess trial and error. The horn is very clean inside and the coils check out fine for contuienty.
