Default Oil Pump Drive Gear Update

Thanks to Bob from Northport, I took his recommendation and pulled the oil pump drive gear. Sure enough, it is enough oversize that it has been causing the cam to push forward and knock like the dickens. I went through my parts bin and found one from Bert's that was brand new and spot on the money as far as same diameter as an original. Put it in and no knocking. (Not sure where the repro part causing the problem came from as I got a pile of A parts in a deal a few years back.)

So I tuned up the old 4 banger and went out for a spin. Ran 50 mph easy and ran it on up to 55-60. Sixty with a 3.78 rear end is not a good idea-I am now changing a blown head gasket.........as Roseannroseannadannah said, "it's always something."

But the knock is gone.

Moral to the story is: Always carefully measure your parts-don't assume things will just drop in and fit like the original.

OOps, sorry folks, I meant to post this in the model A forum. That's what happens when you have both an A and a T.
