1931 Flathead: Please know that you are in my prayers, and those of our church family: while things may look gloomy and dark right now - there is always a silver lining if we will but search for it. Isaiah speaks of the coming feast - and I am convinced that it will be magnificent AND we will rejoice together. Surely you will be a part of that feast - and I pray it will be a feast of celebration for your recovery and opportunity to get back to your project.

1931 flathead, it's easy to say and hard to do but stay positive. I had double pulmonary embolisms, (12 years ago) wasn't supposed to make it thru the night but did, don't give up. You are in my prayers . Rich

Just my opinion, 31Flathead:
Don't sell the car stuff. Use it a a motivation to move forward.
Plan on what you want to do to the car(s). It will take your mind
off the other items.
It will seem even more depressing with nothing to plan for.
You are also in my prayers. Keep positive

Hey 1931 Flathead - thanks for taking the time to update all of us and keep posting away.

I just now saw your post and am sorry that I didn't comment earlier (was out of town all summer). Hang in there and keep the best dang attitude you can - cause every day here on earth is worth it.

Checkin to this site to keep your brain active, listen to the Doctors, be as active as they say you can be and keep a positive attitude on everything - it does go a long way. And try not to sell your hotrod, keep it as a goal to get better and get back onto it. Sounds like the Doctors believe you're doing well - that is awesome!

Brother, God is in control. Take the time to focus on the eternal and reflect upon the blessings of life. Someone once told me, "It's not about the adventure you are going through, but how you go through it that shows where you stand."
Prayers and Blessings coming your way.

31 Fh --- I had a stroke last year and may never be able to ever race again, but just having a project in the garage to work on is a great help. Don't ever matter if the project gets done. Keep your head up & best wishes.

Great news that they believe there is some possible help! Hang in there and keep the positive outlook and faith - we're all rooting for yah and want to see you back on the Barn as soon as possible. I'd personally just love to see you be able to enjoy life a bit more and be able to work on some ole' car projects for fun.

Take care and Happy Thanksgiving to yah.

Best of luck to you and prayers. I've slowed down a lot since prostatectomy. But I sure like looking at the pictures and some of the amazing work the people on the Barn do. Helps me pass the time and keeps me out of trouble.

It's amazing what the doctors can do these days.
Try to stay positive. I'm sure your doctors will do all their best for you.

I hope you have a Merry Christmas,
and wishing you all the best for the future.

31 Flathead, hang in there. Prayers can fix anything. In 2006 i had stage 4 throat cancer and was diagnosed with a aneurysm between my heart and stomach the size of my fist and said it could kill me any minute. With the doctors help and everyone i knew and a large amount of people i did not know praying for me i am still alive in 2016. Now my back has let me down and i can not walk without a walker and i am a lot of pain. I hope prayers and the doctors can fix this as i have a lot of things i would like to do at 69 years old and i am not giving up.

1931flathead I will keep you in my prayers. I haven't had anything as serious but know it's hard to keep thinking positive when these things happen. I have had to fight depression due to health issues, 4 back surgeries over 40 years, triple bypass, then last year neck surgery. Just seemed like one thing after another. I know it's not easy and my thoughts are with you but ya gotta keep coming back to positive thoughts. The depression is bad for you. It sounds like you need some help navigating the government programs to get some income going. There's a lot of Gov. programs out there. See if you and your wife can get a hold of your local State and or Federal Representatives office and explain your situation. I'll bet they'll help or get someone to help figure something out to help figure out what's available for you. Stay positive and pray to the Big Guy upstairs. Sound like you've got a beautiful family to enjoy and I'm sure they'll help too. If you can get some income going from one or more programs then maybe ya get some of your kids or grand kids into the "motor head sport " and enjoy them enjoying it. Give them the benefit of your wisdom but let them turn the wrenches. Enjoy it from a safe distance. God Bless you and your family. Work on getting well and best of luck.
Sincerely,

I just got back to the barn today after being away for some weeks, and read this, God you've got spunk in you and your going to make it. I'm wishing you the very best with all the repairs that you'll need. Two things buddy, one, I will pray for your recovery, and the second one, tell them doctors to torque down your head bolts evenly, because you have catch up work waiting on the flathead. God bless.

Flathead.....on the practical side of things....clearly you need money....I am happy to get this going with £100.00 if you're happy to accept it ? Doubtless many other barners will chip in.

I can send you a UK bank cheque, cash in Sterling or paypal

Keep in mind guys, that this is an old thread that was resurrected so some folks might see that 31 Flathead has been through some tough stuff - and maybe just have a bit of empathy for him.

With that said, a LOT of folks have been through tough shit - so if he was way out of line, then that is on him (and I surely don't question the way that Ryan runs this joint).

31 Flathead has been banned for a thread that I know nothing about - so I can't comment on the issues of late, but I do know that I felt for the guy back when this original thread was created.

In speaking to disabilities in general, and those involving brain function in particular, many of us lack the personal experience to put these issues in focus. I can attest to the ongoing social challenges faced by the individual, as certainly as disabling as physical mobility challenges. My observation from the perspective of family, it does affect everyone to some degree, and it is on us as community to try to empathize and endeavor to not load additional burdens upon that individual. This in no way is a free pass, but a hope that our responses be from a position of understanding. I for one have been less than understanding at times, and perhaps contributed to the banning of 31flathead for which I regret. I hope his ban is temporary, and (speaking for myself) as we get older, we tend to become curmudgeonly, for which a degree of understanding may also be in order.

You are a solid human being my friend! It is easy to criticize, easy to jump in the shark tank (as a shark) and eat the fresh kill . . . it is a LOT harder to reflect and communicate on one's own shortcomings. Nicely done.

Maybe all the 'Apples' learned something? In the highly dysfunctional world we find ourselves in, it is easy to get caught up in the moment and not realize that words do matter. We all tend to jump on the band wagon . . . and we can all get better. Lets keep things positive and supportive, otherwise NONE of us should be here . . .

And I too want to offer my friendship and best wishes. I have had two heart surgeries and face another in a year or two. Not like yours, but it gives me empathy and a knowledge of the feelings you are having. I pray you will continue to as my dad would say 'Keep your chin up'. God Bless, GB from a mountain on an island.
