Removing engine/transmission
Where is the center of gravity with respect to the spark plug holes for a Model A engine with the transmission attached?

Re: Removing engine/transmission
Depends on if you are taking them out engine and full trans, or engine and bellhousing area, or just the engine.

Re: Removing engine/transmission
Start with your lifting ring screwed into the third spark plug hole. You will need to tilt the engine with the aft part lower to get it out. Remove the shift tower and cover the transmission to keep stuff from falling into it.

Re: Removing engine/transmission
A real helper to shift the angle of dangle of the engine/tranny as you remove it is a load leveler like this.

Without a load leveler, my engine pulling experience would have been tragic. It almost was anyway. There's just not a lot of room to work with. |
