Lightly sand the edges of the butterfly plates to slightly round off the sharp edges and remove any burrs. That may improve tight closure and will reduce the chances of sticking at the closed position. Be sure the butterfly plates move freely within their slots in the throttle shafts. Deburr slots as needed. Install the plates in the shaft but leave the screws loose. Hold both of the actual plates themselves tightly closed as you tighten the screws. Do not tighten the screws very hard. A loose plate would be fine, as long as the screws do not fall out. That should get you good closure and no binding. Be very gentle in dimpling the throttle plate screws; A tiny distortion is enough to keep the screws from falling out

31,
I build a lot of 94's and use the Speedway extended shafts.....what I have found is the 6-32 Phillips head screws included with the shafts actually distort the shaft because the chamfer under the head is not concentric with the threads, I use only factory issue brass screws and make them tight plus apply Locktite. It is also my
experience that the non factory throttle plates ,such as you have described, are of varying quality. My preference here is factory only throttle plates. This is only my opinion.

I might junk the bases and buy new ones so I don't have problems

Charlie, do you have a source for the original type brass throttle plate screws, or do you just have a stock pile of NOS ones ? Thanks.

I see those are 1 1/4 throttle plates. I answered on the other forum about the shafts. Everything I have bought from Speedway and Charlie Price seems to be the same. I don't know if Charlie is making for Speedway or is buying from Speedway. Anyway to fix my problems I just had to drill the top side of the shafts so the screw went in and started threading to the bottom side, not the top. Try putting your screws in without the plates. If they have to screw in the top side, you will need to relief that so they just thread into the bottom haft of the shaft. Hope that make sence...
