Edmunds Custom heads

Hi All
I'm installing a set of Edmunds Custom Heads on an 8Ba.
Does anyone know what length studs we should use?
I know ARP makes studs for Offenhauser and Edelbrock but I don't know which ones to buy.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Measure the length you need, then check the ARP catalog. I'm sure they list stud lengths.

Use bolts, unless you are building a super, duper high horsepower engine.
You will regret using studs when you have to remove those heads.

With ANY aluminum heads you should use washers between the head bolt bosses and the casting. We even use these washers on some iron-headed SBC's and BBC's!

Generally speaking most stud kits come with them included, not always with head bolts. ARP's head bolt kits do all come with them however.

We do have "special" washers for use with the bolts OR studs, they do protect the casting over time.

They are very hard top detect when installed under the bolts. See the photos below!

P.S. We do use ARP products on higher-end builds and they have really good products, but not all that inexpensive. The washer's we stock are ARP's.

Yes, the stock cylinder head bolts work just fine. Just make sure you have 7 threads or better engagement. Torque to 45 ft/lbs for 3 heear cycles. Now there are several other ways to do this, but this is the least expensive way and works just fine. Also check piston to head clearance, this should be .040/.050". The advantage of these heads are the ability to use a power tip plug a leaner mixture and more advance in cruise. Now these heads are alittle thin so don't get carried away clearencing for a HI lift cam. I clearance the valve pockets at a 5 deg angle. THis way you don't have to take much out of the heads. Check first, limit stock removal to .050". They run very good for street.

I'm a "Edmunds heads guy", so I know more about them than I probably should. These heads can be installed with the stock bolts (or I guess, a corresponding stud set), but there is one thing you should be aware of : the two holes on the second row from the bottom (at least on the two sets I have) have the bolt pads slightly higher than the bottom bolt pads. They would ideally require bolts a little longer that the short (1.95") stock bolts, and a little shorter than the long (2.62") stock bolts. I have always used the short stock bolts in these with no problem.
