Hassler shocks?
I’ve been a long time user on the early V8/model A forums, but don’t do much with the earlier Fords. A friend just picked up a wagon that was made on a model T chassis. it has these (shocks) which are actually springs, mounted on the axles. I’ve never seen them before. What’s the story behind them?
Thank you. |

Re: Hassler shocks?
They are a type of shock absorber. Do a search of "MTFCA Hassler" if you would like to read more about them. Not sure what other brands of cars Hassler made these for besides Ford Model Ts and early Dodge Brothers (somewhat rare). Pretty much the same design only mounted on my 1920 Dodge Brothers:

Re: Hassler shocks?
Very interesting, I mentioned these to a model T owner friend of mine, he has a model T car that has dual Hassler shocks on each side of the axle

Re: Hassler shocks?
They best serve to control body roll, while turning

Re: Hassler shocks?
I have found the same thing when I had my somewhat top heavy light weight huckster. Also helps with going over speed bumps. My T only had the singles on the rear. With clean lubed springs, she was a bouncer. The Hasslers helped tame her down some.
