Default Fuel Gage

What is the procedure and tool used to bend and set the indicator display? I saw the method awhile back. A length of band metal and how to do it.

Rod or bar to push, hook to pull. Work against each other to bend float rod. Pretty simple.

Agreed - I did purchase the tool set for this task. Crossed my fingers after reassembly the first time I added fuel to ensure was tight enough to not have fuel spill into the drivers compartment, yet not crack the glass, but was successful. Probably will only use this tool once or twice, but I have it (unless there's another local Model A hobbyist who needs one).

Fill the gas tank to a level you consider to be a full tank. To adjust the gauge, push down on its wire arm until it reads full, or using the hook, pull up to bend the wire arm until the gauge reads full.
Do not adjust the gauge on an empty tank because when the gauge reads zero there will be up to a gallon of residual gas in the tank.
You can make a hook to bend the arm up from a wire coat hanger. Attach an old fork to a rod to bend the arm down.

Thanks Bob, I haven’t even yet. I know, I had to bend an adjust the wire piece and I thought there was a technique or some approach to the task.

Both good suggestions.
