Re: Flathead Rebuilder in Midwest
Steve, I don't know if he builds complete engines but you might call Fox Valley Hot Rods at 847-382-3089. It's run by Matt Werksman, Cotton's son, and if he doesn't build engines I bet he will know who to see.

Mike's Automotive in St. Louis and Millstadt, Illinois they have lots of flathead experience. Also you may check with Effingham Re-Grind.

Re: Flathead Rebuilder in Midwest
I had Effingham Re-Grind do some babbit bearing work in the past. Very satisfied. Mike's Automotive has done machine work on several flatheads for me. I assemble them. I built a stock 59A engine last winter and the total cost was near $4,000. Not cheap but I'm addicted to these V8's.

Re: Flathead Rebuilder in Midwest
Dallas, Austin, Houston - lots of hot rods down there. All are likely to have more than one engine builder capable of putting together a flathead.

Re: Flathead Rebuilder in Midwest
Hey, if you're willing to come to Ohio - I highly recommend Fowler Engines / Performance in Columbus. They do extremely nice work in general and have done a LOT of very complex flathead stuff for me and the FlatCad Bonneville race team. Their shop is the only place that I will have my flathead machine work done - period.
Ask for Jeff Fowler and tell him 'Buckwheat' sent yah! 614-258-2924 |
