Default Engine won't idle down ??

What should I be looking for when Engine won't idle down. I put another carb on when I took off the linkage the card idle down. So I'm thinking its in the linkage. With the old carb (Leaker) idle fine ?? Need a little help . Thanks

Just remove the linkage and see if it idles down then. With the linkage removed and it still doesn't idle down then try the idle speed screw. Make sure the throttle plate arm is contacting the speed screw as you do this. If that doesn't do it then the throttle plate may not be setting in the throttle shaft correctly which means the carburetor has to come off to adjust that. Loosen the the 2 screws to allow the plate to move. Make sure the idle speed screw is backed off far enough to not make contact. Wiggle the throttle shaft and allow to plate to see correctly in the bore then tighten the 2 screws.

However if the engine idles down once the throttle linkage is disconnected the problem is in the linkage. Its probably 'warped' [ bent] or sticking. This happens from time to time. Usually from removing the engine.

If you changed a Zenith for a Zenith, a Tilly for a Tilly , Allstate for a Allstate and the new carb idles with the linkage disconnect bend the carb linkage, the throttle shaft crank. Easy with little adjustment at a time.
