Default Late model ford intake question.

I picked up a 83 4 barrel aluminum intake off a mustang yesterday(Fords version of the Edelbrock performer) and I'm wanting to use it on a 302 I'm getting ready to put together for a 48 F1. My question is has anybody run one and what did you do to bypass the EGR plate?

You can try to block off the exhaust crossover, but you still have a light weight version of an iron manifold, not even close to an Edelbrock Performer. Best idea is to scrap it and buy something better

It's not an exact version however according to some things I've read it is close and cheaper than a performer. The performer runs out at 5500 vs this one that runs out at 4500, Besides this is a fairly stock rebuild.

Kill two birds with one stone, click on this www.summitracing.com and put this number in search TRD-2432 this will block off the port and increase the low end and mid-range.If you are freshening up your 302 you might want to check out this part # SUM-K3600 this is a copy of the Ford Motorsports grind that Ford recently discontinued since they are only listing the roller cams now,I am running this cam low end and mid-range is great and will pull to 6,000 RPM no problem.

If it were mine, I would make a steel plate to block off the EGR, then run a 500 Edelbrock on a two inch high four hole spacer. Combine that with a stock rebuild with about a 260 degree advertised cam for good bottom end and a dynamite mid range. Not for racing.

That's what the TRD-2432 is which I think is the ticket. The cam might be a good candidate for this engine also, Thanks for the info Jeff.
