As can be quantified by rbullockv8's biography:

Biography "1968 San Luis Obispo, CA, High School grad. Drove our 1932 Roadster PU to school."

I was just thinking of that! I think I have some in the garage. :-)

This tire was actually one of the spares, but unlike a couple of others, it still holds air. I wonder what 60 year old air smells like?

The plate "I AM 809" is probably stretching its age a bit. Beautiful truck, though in Australia they made "Roadter Utes" (non well-side) through to 1936 maybe even longer. Mercman will correct me if i'm wrong.

Back in those days, the DMV used to give out entirely new plates--or maybe this was the first year changing from the yellow plates to black, not sure. My dad got two sets of plates with sequential numbers. The other set was IAM810, and they went on his 1950/51 DeSoto flathead 6 cylinder 4-door. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have of the old DeSoto.

The plate may be personalized for International Associated Machinist union.

Seems like the change from yellow to black plates was '63-ish. DD

1963 was the change over to the black and gold plates.

4 door Desoto/Dodge was available here in NZ back in the fifties with the flathead 6. Those engines were bullet proof and were popular with NZ stock car racers (dirt track "roundy-round" type) wayback.

Maybe a Hernia truss would help that one.

At least, the Tube didn't pop and the Tyre is still inflated. What more could you ask for?

Any thoughts about using 5.50 x 16 tires instead of 600 x 16s so they fit in the fender wells better?
I would say you are running too much air pressure. Try less and see if it will handle ok. Just my opinion.

If you were every wondering what a twisted tube looks like. Here's one. Was installed by a tire dealer into my '35 wire wheel years back. Always was wondering why the sidewall looked distorted. Had a flat after about 30 miles of driving.

New tires arrived! Coker 600x16 by way of Summit Racing in Reno, NV. Same price as ordering directly from Coker, but Summit had free shipping. Waiting for tubes, then off to the tire shop for mounting and balancing.

Meanwhile, I got a side mirror on. Just using one of the pair of swan neck mirrors from Macs. Oddly, this one is marked RH (the other LH), but I wanted the arm to curve up, not down.

For you purists: 1. All the hinge style mirrors I found are made for 2" to 2-1/4" hinges. Mine on this RPU are puny little things, only 1-5/8 inches high (pin height), so it would mean some fabricating. 2. My RPU windshield posts are not drilled to accept a threaded mirror like other roadsters. 3. There is no way to use a door edge peep mirror. 4. I already had one hole here from an old side mirror my dad put on 60 or more years ago, so I was able to use that. Decided to go easy for now and get this on the road.

Also, someone asked about these swan neck mirrors for a '34. On my RPU, the curve of the door is such that I'm barely able to adjust the head inward enough to get a view alongside the truck. It's at the limit of the head mobility (the little post and ball on the head). If I wanted to use the one on the passenger side, it would need to angle in even more, far more than the mirror head would allow. Might work fine for a flat-sided car, or if I used a stick-on wide angle mirror.
