Default 36 Ford Restoration/ Ultimate Basket Case

Hemmings Classic Car January 2016 issue is in stores now featuring the resto of my 36 Cabriolet. Out of the blue I got a call from Richard saying he saw my car at a Show two years ago and Hemmings was interested in profiling my resto. OK so I'm excited. Just know it can happen to anyone of us.

A great car and a great article. The amount of work you put into that resurrection is amazing.

Ken

"2014 AACA SE Winter Meet 2/22/14 @ Port St Lucie Civic Ctr
In class 28B got 1st Junior Trophy."

I'm curious. Does the AACA allow upgrades (hydraulic brakes, tube shocks) for safety reasons when judging a car? I was under the impression that their criteria is strict regarding restoration to OEM condition.

Great restoration especially the color choice....!!!

They allow safety upgrades but must be mostly original-I had to get 365 points out of 440 to get a Trophy. They deducted for Brakes etc. but I still got enough points for a 1st place Junior. Next time I will be judged for Senior requiring 385 points.

Is that a correct color for the '36 Model year? I don't recall ever seeing that color....

Yes the color was painted on convertibles the month of April as a promotion. Bambalino Blue.

Lovely car. I hope that you have lots of fun driving this beauty and sharing quality time with your family. This body style was never sold in Australia, but a few have been imported in recent years. One RHD 36 Cabriolet that now lives in Australia originated in the UK.
