Default Oil fill tube loose

My oil fill tube is loose in the block, is there an easy fix for this? Wrap with Teflon tape and shove it in?

I take a ball peen hammer and swell out the bottom end of the pipe and put it back in and it is real tight as it should be.

And like 30 Coupe, I use a Oak block to go on top of the pipe before the Lead hammer.

depending on how loose it is i managed to get by with painting the lower end that slides in the block with paint, letting it dry till tacky then tapping it in with a hammer and a board. stuck solid now. I'm sure it would come out if i really wanted it too but doesn't come out by hand.

If its pretty loose id first make sure its round - might be able to use a small tailpipe expander to make it round/"stretch" it some. if its round as its gonna get id do what 1930 coupe said up there about the tinning with soldier and paint.

I would not use teflon tape in the chance the teflon falls off inside the engine - going to clog the oil pump screen.

loose fill tube for oil can be tightened by using a nail punch to dimple about 1/2 inch up on the inside to make a small dent using a small hammer to indent the inside to make a "pimple" to make the tube larger until it is secure. Make the dimples around the surface until it makes the tube tight. It works!

Mine was loose and seeping a little oil residue.
I cleaned it and the hole in the block then sealed it with silicone.
It's now tight and my clean painted block stays clean.

You can also use a steel bar with a recess for the inward curl of the bottom of the fill tube. Mount it in the lathe, then slip the tube over it and give it a light knurl.

If you powdercoat the tube, the thickness of the powdercoat will probably tighten it enough.

I have used a close fitting socket in a vice and rocked the pipe around on it to expand the end some

This exhaust pipe expansion tool is ideal for fixing a loose breather pipe. The expansion tool is also ideal for restoring out-of-round and dented breather tubes. Inexpensive tools in various sizes are available from Harbor Freight.

Soft solder ( lead/tin) works well.

Mine was loose and weeping oil. Cleaned, painted and reinstalled it with JB Weld. Hasn't given any more problems.

Like Ian said, just TIN the bottom end & drive it in. I put a smear of LOCTITE, before driving it in.
