A lot of us here use this coil with a stock distributor. They have a VERY good reputation, as long as you aren't going for an original type resto. I'm even running that coil on my toyota powered jailbar truck!

I just purchased my last two off of Amazon - shipping was fast and they are in use on a Harman Collins dual coil.

One thing to note on these distributors - don't try to run anything other than solid copper-core wires (like the old Packard 440s). If you use resistance type wires (even the modern spiral core), you'll probable have issues on the yellow secondary plate keeping the spark going where it is supposed too. I've recently been working on about 4 of these old beasts - have had to come up with a few tricks to get the second coil and 4 cylinders to fire as they should. Many of the secondary plates have issues with spark jump and flutter.

Also, you really should set it up on a distributor machine to sync the points and also run it with your complete ignition setup --> coils, wires, plugs, etc.. It is the best way to ensure it will work as it should.

Rock auto shows having the Bosch 00012 for $40.79. Amazon asks $58. I bought one from Amazon in '18 for $22.08.

Every now and again Amazon lists the Bosch unit for much less. Of course not when I needed one.
