1936 ford deluxe spare tire cap

I'm looking for a cap and stainless ring for a '36 Deluxe spare tire cover. I tried posting this in the wanted thread but wouldn't let me. Please let me know if yall have anything, thanks.

I believe that there are two different styles of Spare Wheel Covers for the 1936 Fords? In Australia, all 1936 Fords got the Cover in the top illustration.
I don't know any details of what models the Cover in the lower illustration was fitted to?

The pix you attached to your original thread is of a common '36 Ford passenger car tire cover. The center cap is removable, being attached to the cover via a hinge, lifting the cover reveals the cover lock that secures the assembly to the tire mount.
The small stainless trim ring is attached via small special clips.
The entire spare tire cover comes up on ebay on a regular, the pieces by themselves are very hard to find.
Hmmmm? Taking a second look at the blue tire cover that 'mercman' attached would appear to be a copy of one of the August covers I have in my garage. I have seen four of this type of covers in the seventy years I have been messing with '36 Fords, I have three of these covers, one on the car and two in parts collection, One of the covers I have is original to my car, it was damaged in a minor rear end collision in 1955, I was able to find a replacement in 1962 on a car I bought just to get the tire cover.

The pix that 'mercman' posted shows the common 36 tire cover and the very rare 'August' cover, that some people call the Standard '36 cover.
Reputedly the August cover fits the Standard '36 Ford 550 x 16 tire and 3.5" Standard wheel.
My '36 coupe is a late series DeLux car, August of '36, When I bought the car from the original owner in September 1952 it had the August cover on the spare tire, which it still has.
The August cover requires a special tire mount that has an extension in the center to allow for the more shallow dish of the cover.

Both 36 spare tire covers are well documented at The Benson Ford Research Center. The Deluxe and Standard cover(until late 36) Carried part # 68-1395-A. This cover was designed for the 16 x 6.00 tire (supplied on both std and deluxe cars until late 36) and had a finished diameter of 27.38" The cover ring was a carry over from 1935 ( part # 48-1351)and had a depth of 5.38"

In late 36 the 68-1375-E cover was introduced to be used on standard cars now being outfitted with 16 x 5.50 tires. This cover had a finished diameter of 26.62". Its cover ring was narrower at 5.38" and carried part # 68-1351.

I don't recall if the '36 2dr sdn I bought in 1960-62 to get a replacement August cover for my '36, which had been badly damaged in an accident in 1955, was a true Standard car, or Delux. I parted the car out, mechanically it was worn out but it did have a good body.
I do know that I acquired a very nice complete spare tire assembly, including the special body mount.
During the almost seventy years I have owned "Henry" I have wondered from time to time why my car has always had a 'August ' spare tire. I guess the answer could be that the original owner of the car liked the clean lines of the August cover compared to the common '36 cover. Another side to the story is the fact that my '36 is a DeLux and that it has/had about every accessory that was available in '36, including the Columbia OD. At some point before I brought the car the original owner added the '39 style of hot water heater. There is no indication that the car ever had a heater prior to the addition of the '39 heater.
I have to thank Don Rogers for posting the spec's, part numbers, etc., for the '36 tire covers. This info will prompt me to compare the actual sizes of the two covers, common '36 and the August style, I have.
I wonder? Just how common is the '36 3.5" standard wheel. The 3.5" wheel was standard equipment on the '37-39 V8 60...
I would venture a guess that the average person discarded the smaller wheel and tire when it came to tire replacement time.

Those stainless steel outer larger trim rings are hard to find by them selves, I have had to buy complete covers just to get that ring in decent shape, they used to make repops at one time but it doesn't seem to be the case these days. Welcome to the barn.
