53 dash cluster
How the blip do you get the fool thing out of the dash?? I found the 3 - 3/8" nuts holding it in, and removed them. It will not easily come out the front. The speedometer reads fast. I have been told it probably needs cleaning and lubrication. The temperature gauge also does not work, some previous owner installed 2 SW temp gauges under the dash. I think I can remove it as it is - any idea where I might find a replacement??

Re: 53 dash cluster
Doug, It will come out the front. You have to disconnect the speedo cable and maybe the bulbs in the back. Also the circuit breakers on side are sometimes attached to the instrument housing. Turn it a little sideways and you can just lay it on the steering column. I changed out my speedo this summer that way. To come all the way out disconnect the instrument wiring. The only service point on the speedometer of my Victoria was an oil pad on top of the cable connector housing which you can reach from the back without removing anything. I think the only way you can correct the speed reading is change the speedometer gear at the transmission end of the cable depending what size tires you have on it, like radials, etc. Good Luck. Don
