https://restostamps.com/products/sta...rd-model-a-b-t is the base set, and if you have late 31 you need the newer stamps in addition to it if you have a 1, 6,9 in your number. But check if anyone in your club has them first - I loan my out to club members.

I got set on eBay that had both versions of the numbers used on the Model A. I waited for about a month for the set I wanted to come up. It included the A and star.

From a BMV perspective, the star and the A stamps are the ones. As long as the numbers match the tittle 99.9% of anyone looking at the stamp knows no difference.

Because California does not want the old cars on the road.

Besides, the last time I bought a collector car from California, I got a bill-of-sale, not a title.

I've purchased three Model As in California in the last several years. All of them had valid titles. I had no problem at all with DMV. One of them came in from Wisconsin, the DMV did a "VIN" validation of the Wisconsin title against the engine number on that one but it matched (even though it was a very poor restamp, the numbers matched the title so all was OK by DMV).

I agree that California doesn't want old cars on the road, hell, California doesn't want ANY cars on the road unless they're electric. If wishes were fishes we'd all be swimming.

Phil, you need to find another DMV!

It helps to have a friend in the DMV or find a friendly person there. Shop around.

I for the most part quit going to the DMV, now use a good third party registration service here in town. Give them a small fee for there time and it's usually a one and done. Even inhouse VIN verification. Even the girls that work there act and treat you like they want to do there job (not to mention there pretty easy on the eyes )
Sometimes DMV can be easier than most times...but Calif. DMV 100% sucks

One would wonder how many sets of those number sets were bought and only used one time just sitting on a shelf somewhere

I’ve loaned mine out numerous times.
The chore is poking the borrower to get it back timely.
I’m always reluctant to loan tools but that’s so specific, I did and will in the future .
Borrowers should act more responsibly and timely. When done, take it back soon!

Oldbluoval, I don't lend mine out anymore, If they want to bring their block over and
stamp it their welcome to. Then I know where they are when I need them.

In my state, a new car dealer can also give you the inspection, and sign your form. It used to be $5.

Dodge… great idea!
Blocks are just so heavy. Often it hasn’t been a bare block. The again, not my problem

I’ve seen photos of stamping the numbers on the blocks with the engines in the frame. I’m not confident I could do a decent job working in so many dimensions. The few I’ve done have been with the block on its side so the hammer travels down.

For what it's worth, restostamps will also make specific stamps. For example, the Canadian Ford numbers are different than the US ones. In order to have the proper match, the correct numbers have to get made. It's an expensive hobby...

It is not an everyday item. I just kept going back daily until a set of stamps showed up.
