Makes me sad...
Saw this on Hemming's this morning. Makes me sad. I hope the driver and passengers are OK.

After seeing the steering wheel I don't think the driver is ok, very sad I agree.

Re: Makes me sad...
granted it kept their knees from slamming into the dashboard but the drivers chest got impaled with the steering shaft/horn rod since his/her upper body wasnt restrained... I too hope they are OK.

Oh, that's too bad. Looked like a nice car. Hope the occupants are OK. These old cars just don't stand a chance against a Modern. Everyone drives so crazy these days.

Re: Makes me sad...
It is sad to see that happen, hopefully everyone is alright. I imagine that the insurance company totaled it and sent it to auction.
The car is being auctioned off at: http://www.autobidmaster.com/carfind...GE_PHOENIX_AZ/ |

Re: Makes me sad...
How did the Kanter Bros get their name involved? They are NOT mod A specialists. Their place is in Boonton, NJ and I've been there,. Its marked with a large Packard sign right off I 287 as you go into town from the south. I will never forget the condescending treatment myself and a friend received one day when we drove up there.
Terry PS. I misunderstood that the ad for Kanters was just a pop up. It came up on the page and I assumed that the seller was in some way connected to Kanters. My Confusion! Quote:

Re: Makes me sad...
Seems like there are more than $675.00 of parts on that car.

Re: Makes me sad...
Lt quarter window has "Bio" written on it. Some salvage yards use the biohazard symbol as a decal. Normally not a good sign....

Re: Makes me sad...
All car wrecks are sad. Today as we came back from a doctor appointment, we were traveling on RT2 and came upon a wreck that hit the guard rail in the median and burst into flames. 3 ambulances were parked there, but nobody was in them, and they were not leaving for the hospital, so I assumed that the occupants were trapped in the car as it burned furyously. The tires were exploding as we passed and the flames were 20 feet high. A terrible way to meet your end.

Re: Makes me sad...
Taking time to post a photo like this is a very informative and thoughtful way to remind all of us and all of our Model A friends to always stay alert.
Thanks. Last edited by H. L. Chauvin; 05-19-2017 at 06:34 PM. Reason: typo |

Yes, stay alert and never trust a red light OR a stop sign. I have seen so many of them run over the last few years. Everybody in a hurry. "Drive like hell-you'll get there", is what my Dad used to say!

Re: Makes me sad...
i dunno, i dont see much more than that... Whole body is bent, is labeled as biohazard in the description so interior is garbage (blood, fecies, urine, hopefully no internal parts...) parts of the engine might be OK but that hard of a force may have bent the crankshaft. Im sure the flywheel housing/trans bell is cracked. Probably jammed it all back into the torque tube so who knows what that did. I think there is just about $675 worth of parts that arent mangled...

Re: Makes me sad...
I've seen worst repaired. Those holes in the door appear to be stickers.

Re: Makes me sad...
This car was from a member of the Phoenix Model A Club.
He sustained mayor injuries and died 2 weeks after the accident. Sad indeed Last edited by Joop; 05-22-2017 at 07:40 PM. |

Two people killed in two separate accidents within 15 miles of me last week. Both were young kids and both had texting involved. One the kid was texting and pulled out in front of another and killed the other guy. Other was a young girl texting wandered across the dividing line hit a semi truck head on. My folks used to live in Phoenix during the winters, and way back years ago they talked about the crazy fools out there running red lights and all the accidents. Not getting any better. |

Re: Makes me sad...
Yesterday some idiot in a pickup ran a red light, totaled the pickup and three other cars, then ran away and tried to break into a house. Luckily he was caught, and of course has a long rap sheet. This was about a mile from my house.
