I posted a similar thread a few weeks ago, and received several comments to the effect that since hucksters were not an official Ford product, that (almost) anything goes. What I wanted was something official or at least professional to start with. I just bought plans for a huckster from Wagon Works. I scoped out three hucksters at the MAFCA tour in NH , and they were all WW designs with personal variations in each one. The WW plans come with a disclaimer that they are from an unrestored original body, and that modifications are possible. I don't plan to build exactly to WW design, but it has all the necessary details and explanations for me to understand where I can deviate, and where I shouldn't.

Most fabricators of body wood make it a bit on the large side to allow for adjustment and fit since individual bodies may be slightly different. Most require some extra fitting to get them where they need to be and for the fitting of the top materials to bows and such. Maybe an owner of a roadster pickup body can add more if this is what you are referring to. Hucksters are in a whole different category since most use a coupe type front pillar so I can't help much there.

No experience with any of them but a little information...

Classic Wood website - https://www.classicwoodproductsllc.com/

Wagon Works used to be Hudson Wagon Works - they made T and A huckster bodies. Many moons ago, I did buy plans from them for putting a Pinto powertrain in a Model A - think I still have them somewhere but I never got around to committing that particular heresy. Anyway, when the business changed hands, the Hudson was dropped and I believe they just sold plans. When I google them, I get "permanently closed." But Russell Reay said he just bought plans so I dunno.

After several google searches, but no website, I called the phone number 515)964-5085, and spoke with Jay Cramer, the owner. I didn't wish to pry or pretend we were long lost pals, but it is my impression that he is retired from body construction, and just sells plans. The huckster plans are plan view, side view and X-sections at 1" = 1' all on a sheet 18" x 24". These are dated 1995, and are drawn and lettered by an engineer or draftsman, not done on a computer. They are accompanied by a 20-page set of instructions which include details for door construction, plus some BW photos, bill of materials and a cut list. Also a DVD about 2 hours in length showing most significant components of the construction. Videography isn't all that great but the camera was stable on a tripod, and the message is clear. Plans are $55 for the docs and DVD, he doesn't take credit cards, and Jay is easy to talk with. Even if you don't follow the plans exactly, they are definitely enough to put you on the right foot knowing that these plans are for a 90-year old vehicle and have been built by many people many times over the years.

I purchased those plans years ago and started a Huckster using a '31 frame and sheet metal. I found some differences between the DVD and paper plans. Nothing serious, but you need to pay attention. Too, the quality of the DVD wasn't exactly top notch. Ended up selling it to a father and his son as a project.
