Default Installing Drake Running Board Covers

Have a pair of covers for 35/36 running boards which I bought from a friend.
However, there are no directions. Can someone who has a copy send them to me? My email is [email protected].

Thanks,

Peter

Peter: Read through all the info. on GOOGLE and you will be a happy camper.

A Fordbarn search will give you info. also.

When you install the covers be sure not to pull or stretch them as you want them to lay down in an unstressed state. I first applied Contact cement to only the lipped edge of the running board and cover. Then I laid the remaining dry cover down on the dry board to check alignment and fit. Then I applied Contact cement in about 6 inches wide strips on both the running board and cover and brought them together. I did it this way to avoid having contact cement running all over the place and having to try and hold a big floppy cover. I used a Bondo spreader on the board and a brush on the cover. You could also used a small paint roller for more even results.
That was 40 years ago and they are still holding fine. If you literally do a "dry run" first you will gain confidence.

19 Fordy is correct. But you also need two more helpers and a bout six large clamps

Make sure that the running boards are straight. Believe it or not, dents will show through.

19Fordy,

Me too, several times. The only difference that I would recommend would be to progress in 3" increments rather than 6" increments, especially starting from the outer curved portion..
