Default New Key vs. New Lock

Is it easier/cheaper to just get a whole lock cylinder...as opposed to a key blank and then calling a lock smith?

There should be a number on the door handle shaft, A&L or possibly Dick Crabtree
can make keys from that number.

If you had a car without a key, would you buy a NEW car, with a KEY?
