F1 steering in a 32
I have an F1 steering box in a 32. Stock frame. I cut the steering wheel end off and welded on an early end with the tapper and key. The slop in the steering is tolerable but I think I want an improvement.
I have been looking at rebuild parts and I have only found the worm gear mounted on a new shaft. That means cutting and welding again. I am assuming that this worm gears are removable so the question is do they sell the worm gear by itself. |

Send NealinCA on here a message. He is the best at rebuilding F1, F100 and other early steering boxes.

The F100 box from the mid 50s is likely a better choice than the F1 set. It takes some special tooling and a pretty good press to change a worm gear. Parts are available.

An F1 steering box from NealinCA is the way to go. We currently have 3 installed and they steer beautifully.
They are installed in 32 Fords and fit like a glove using the original steering wheels and light switch etc. The only worthwhile option for a driver 32 or a mild Hot Rod.

Re: F1 steering in a 32
One BIG advantage of the F100 is you can have self cancelling turn signals. The switch assembly is built in the column.

Re: F1 steering in a 32
The F100 steering also has the column on top which allows for a closer to stock column angle rather coming from the bottom like the F1 which places the column in a more vertical angle
