55 ford heater controls
In working on my car the heater control cables have gotten disconnected . Which cable goes where." ??
There are three cables, wire wound choke type, one goes out to the flap at the blower motor, one goes to a leaver that seems to operate a flap inside the heater box under the dashboard, the other goes to a leaver that appears to operate control of some type of control on top of the heater box under the dashboard. There are three places to attach them at the dash, one attachment is for the heat temp the two lower ones one is for right heat and the other is for heat/defrost. Any help would be appreciated. I've got them connected but not sure they are correct. |

In the middle, there are two studs, but one lever on the front operates them both. The cable that operates the right-air damper crank at the ductwork under the fender should go to the stud that opens that damper. The other stud controls the heat/defrost mode. It connects to the crank/lever on the heater plenum which opens/closes the heat/defrost damper. When adjusting the cable clamps on the back side of the "Magic-Aire" control, tighten down the cables only when maximum opening/closing has been achieved, but only leaving enough exposed cable core to achieve maximum movement of the lever on the other end. Same principle goes for tightening down the cable clamps at the lever end. |
