Default Dual plug heads.

The tooling is ready to go for the first sample castings. The first 20, or so, go to Snyder. They will be available in iron also.

Wow, even after watching youtube videos to see how things are cast in metal it never ceases to amaze me. Keep up the good work Tod.

That amazing. I would love to see a picture of how they look once installed...even better, a video of one running.

Can I assume these are also high-compression?

What ignition system changes are necessary to fire twice the amount of spark plugs?

Wait for Rev 2.0 of the head, where it will support 2 distributors!

A friend of mine had a Honda Goldwing with two distributors and what a nightmare that was to set up. He did eventually buy an expensive tool to help but sold it soon afterwords.

Typical aircraft engines are required to have redundant systems (as backup). I would think they would use aircraft magnetos instead of distributors though.

If the aircraft is licenced as 'Experimental' by the FAA, redundant ignition may not be required (I'm not sure?), but it would be a good idea.

You are correct in your thinking, IMO and experience. I sold several Wico 1509 (up top of head) and several side mags for old aircraft usage.

Hey Bob,
Differing ways to accomplish same goal. As mentioned, some more modern distributors (Nissan, etc) are used.
Another way Is to use Charlie Yapp front timing cover 'stock' looking 4 cyl distributor..up front, and to also use a mag or another 4 cyl dist up top.

Very nice! My Dad built a Pietenpol back in the 60s (used a Continental A-65) I still have the plans and thought of building one someday. Car engines in aircraft scare me a bit but this would help.
