hub screw on grease caps,chrome?
I'd really like to have shiny front screw on grease cover caps; chrome or stainless or even brass grease caps,as I don't run hub caps at all on speedster, dose anyoneknow if someone sells them chromed or something.
I tryed shining the steel, but dose not hold shin very long even with clear coat over them. Thanks Dana As extra ? what years did hubs come with the screw on type vs push on? Last edited by Dana Barlow; 05-04-2012 at 12:07 PM. |

Get 'em chromed if that's what floats your boat.

My 40 Ford had "screw ons." If you have a lathe you could actually make your own.

No Ford has dust caps on rear hubs, only the front.

Dana, Give it a try. You will be surprised how easy it is. What kind of lathe do you have? I don't have my threaded dust caps anymore. Do you know what size threads the OEM caps have? JIM

Re: hub screw on grease caps, chrome?
The only problem your going to have with chrome on your caps is ,it also chromes the threads. If you notice the threads are fairly tight, when you screw them on it's a tight fit.Now when you chrome them it adds more thickness to the threads and makes it harder to thread on to the hub.I'd be worried if you got them on,you may not get them off.
Just my 2 cents,I've run into this problem in my line of work. |

The thread is 2" - 24, and the chrome shop will have tape that can be used to mask the threads.
