Can you ID a 32 Heavy Axle by its Hub?
Guys, here is a pile of old axles, the one in the lower right where the hub has windows in it, is that definitely a 32 Heavy? Or did they make that style many years. Its been a while since I've been to this place and it was buried. Just saw a pick of a real 32 heavy and it had the same hub...wondering if its worth a trip back. Probably could get for hardly nothing. Thanks!!

Without seeing the axle itself it would be near impossible to say, the hubs could have been changed.

The "hub" brake drum with the "Windows" this basic style drum with holes was used through 35, there are width and radial fin count differences, but had the holes. Only the Axle itself will tell you if it's a "heavy" as your calling it.

Re: Can you ID a 32 Heavy Axle by its Hub?
The brake drum with the "windows" is a '35 given the circumferential ribs. The closed drum is '36-'39.
Given that the '33 front axle has the same center cross section between the spring perches. Without seeing the ends from the spring perches outward, it could be either a '32 or a '33. |

Thanks for the help guys! I'm not sure its really still there, but could make a trip. I recognized the windows on the drum, and was wondering if that was a 32 only type drum....

Lots of good parts, but if Those axles are stored torque tube up and not covered, they can be a solid chunk of rust inside.

Good rain water collectors. Kind of like old engines with the hood and air cleaner removed.
