Default Font type used on Brigs body body number tag

I searched the forum for font, font type, type font and can't seem to find anything. Does any one know the name of the font type that was used to stamp the body number type on a 1930 briggs body 68b. Our body tag was pretty badly damaged so we bought a blank and I want to be able to the the local trophy engraver what fount to use to put in on our new tag.

Good question. Remember when you stamp it, Briggs used their body number not Fords. If there are any numbers left, try googling "letter fonts" and see if you can find one that comes close. Generally a group of letters will include numbers. More then likely it will be a serif type simple to read and stamp. Chances are the engraver is going to use templates so that might limit what type face or fonts they have on hand. Also an engraved number, depending on what bit is installed may not look like a stamped number if that is a concern.

Type your number into a Word document, highlight it and hover over the different fonts Word offers and see which one matches up to your original body tag. Briggs body tag stampings have a "curlique" effect on their numbers, so the font will have to match that. It will narrow down the possibilities.

Let us know what you find out. My guess is Century font. Remember it would have to be a stamp/typeface available in the late 1920's.

The mafca said there was nothing in the judging standards so we are just going to go with roman bold.
