No history on this Russian photo, is it a Model A Ford?

Russian GAZ trucks were usually 1931 Model AA's, as one can see from the straight across radiator shell on top, no "widow's peak".

Thanks Tim & Marshall. Very cool. Interesting fenders with the headlight bar passing thru them to, what I assume, the original type fender mounts.

I believe they were called GAZ russian built Model A . Was a good article about them in the Restorer around 1970. Also built Phaetons at the Gorky plant.

Many GAZ's were used in the Soviet Army during WWII. Square fenders, curved fenders, single headlight, dual rear ends....plus the GAZ 67b which was the Russian version of the jeep primarily using parts similar to the Model A.

Based on the fender shapes (squared GAZ-MM style with rounded GAZ/Ford-AA support brackets) it looks to be an early Russian GAZ-MM, produced from 1940-1942ish with many GAZ-AA and a couple Ford Model A parts mixed in.

Note the front brakes (are present), dual front headlights (large sized and both present), all steel cab and doors (later dropped or changed starting in 1942+ due to material shortages) and the two tow/tie-down hooks on the top of the frame, at the base of the fenders, by the radiator shell base.

This has probably made the rounds already, but a Twitter account called 'Soviet Visuals' just posted this pic. Described as a Street Sweeper, it's a modified GAZ, I assume...

Yes, they are street sweepers mounted on the Russian GAZ-AA chassis. Note the width of the front bumpers extended out to protect the rear sweeper mechanism sticking out of the both sides.

Here is another photo (closer up) of a Russian GAZ-AA based street sweeper:

How in the world do you even READ that garbage

As an aside, Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers' movies said in one of them, that his father invented the exclamation point

I certainly don't read that....(garbage/language) the way some can;
however, I'm thinking I actually can read (understand) the first word on the big building in the background.
It isn't a scene in Russia! Is it... my guess is Kazakhstan. (Once an 'R' in USSR)
This may have an interesting propaganda/protest backstory...
Any idea when was it taken?
Great picture for sure

There is a lot of symbology going on in that photo of the GAZ-AA.

Yes, the letters on the red banner read "with Victory" and the display with the GAZ-AA is a recreation of a WWII scene in Russia. Note the Russian soldiers in WWII era uniform standing in back of the truck.

It looks like the photo was taken out front of the Metallurgy’ Pavilion No.11 (Pavilion of Kazakhstan), which is located in the VDNKh Park in Moscow, Russia. (VDNKh = Vystavka dostizheniy narodnogo khozyaystva or Выставка достижений народного хозяйства which in english is the "Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy"......which is a permanent general purpose trade show and amusement park in Moscow, Russia.)

Here is a better photo of that Pavillion of Kazakhstan:

The bunch of red roses laying on top of the GAZ-AA cab is a traditional tribute to the fallen Russian soldiers of the 1941-1945 "Great Patriotic War" (i.e. WWII) against Nazi Germany. ....so the photo was most likely taken on May 9th - "Victory Day".
