Default 36 Ford Stock Engine Questions

The water pumps have grease fittings. What type of grease should be used?

Stock 18mm spark plugs are now Champion. What is the best replacement spark plug?

Water pump grease. Fords run best on Champion plugs.

Maybe 50 years ago they did. I wouldn't put a FREE "Champ" in my lawn mower today! DD

I had to look a while but I finally found the proper reach extended tip Champion plugs to use in the Edmunds heads on my 8BA. They have performed flawlessly.

When I got them and went to install them, I found they they were made in France.

Perhaps the jury is still out.

I use Champion UD16 in my stock 36. Never an issue & look amazing every time I check them.

I WAS a Champ advocate, and remember religiously running Champ UJ-8s and UJ-6s in several performance-type small block street Chevies I built during the last half of the '60s/early '70s. Around '71 or so, it seemed like all of a sudden, I couldn't keep a Champ going for nothin', no matter what I did. So, 'we' parted ways ever since! DD

Thank you all for your responses. Found replacement NGK plugs and they solved the starting problems.

Where to get the proper water pump grease is still a question.

Check out Bratton's or Snyder's. They're Model A people but A's used w/pump grease. Readily available from either one.
