1941 Pickup hood latching
Anyone have pictures of the safety latch setup on a 40/41 pickup.

Re: 1941 Pickup hood latching
The early '41 uses the '40 standard latch. The later '41 uses a totally different upper latch and lower grille brace. The hood near the front is also different to accommodate the upper latch. The latch also uses a different hood release handle that is not reproduced and difficult to find. Basically the inner hood lip is notched to clear the 6 cylinder radiator. You might want to buy the small book sold by the Early Ford V-8 Club titled "Two Great Trucks". It's only $10 plus shipping and it will answer a lot of questions on the differences between the '40 and '41 pickups. I know you only asked about the safety latch, but I didn't know if you needed the extra information or not. The safety latch attaches to the back side of the grille center just like any other 40-41 pickup.

Mine didn't have the safety latch or the rear brace when I bought it. I did find the rear brace part in a box and a rusted safety latch, but the truck has an old repo aluminum grill and was looking for pics to see if I needed more parts. The upper latch it all there and working (with the wrong lever of course). |
