how much oil pressure increase can be had by increasing spring pressure in relief valve located in upper front of block

If it;s a true 1953 Engine it has a pressure relief valve built into the oil pump itself. Flatheads dont require or need a ton of oil pressure for normal street use.

A local blocked off the hole to the pressure relief and achieved 95lbs which is way too excessive for a street flathead with normal clearances.

My 40 coupe is lucky to see over 8lbs idling when hot and 20lbs driving and has never given a issues.

My opinion it's like Human Blood pressure, too low or zero and your dead... Excessively too high and you on your way to death
