OK guys, don't laugh - seats
My car had absolutely no interior when I got it, just some springs to sit on.
So I put some foam down and covered it with an old sheet, very uncomfortable and it looked pretty bad, but that's what I've been sitting on for the past two months. So I got feed up and got some burlap, some cotton matting, and some material. Still looks like hammered crap but at least I can ride without my butt crying in pain. This will do until I get ready to spring for the interior kit.

The third picture looks better than the second which is better than the first. I would say you are on your way, one step at a time.

I think it looks fine.....they used to sell seat covers like that for many vehicles..the ones I remember were called Saddle Blanket Seat Covers....I had a set in my F-250 pickup....

Whatever it takes so you can enjoy driving your car until you can do it like you want. Almost has the 'Mexican Blanket' look.
The cardboard door panels are stylin' too... |

So someone did notice my cardboard door panels. They too will do until I'm ready for the interior. They do add a "depression era" flair.

Re: OK guys, don't laugh - seats
Looks so natural for seniors who grew up in rural areas years ago.
Two (2) RC Cola enameled tin signs to replace the (2) operable side glasses in both doors would add a bit of all natural late 1940's zip ..... mine was adorned like that ........ also (2) wood planks bolted on tops of both running boards. Only very poor people that were happy with nothing had Model A's back then ..... it was wheels to replace walking ...... and/or bicycle travel. For teenagers, a Model A with a smoking engine and blue striped mattress cover seat covers was a real chick magnet 57 years ago. |

Re: OK guys, don't laugh - seats
make it drivable, or park it up in the barn for 35 years "restoring it" as cashflow/times/etc is available.......
I think you made the right choice! I actually really like stuff like that - If you were pulling out tidy upholstery to do it, that would be silly, but making do with something, and doing it well makes sense. I honestly am not a fan of "restored" cars (though I have no problem with them), I like the "honest" type of car, where things might be "wrong", but there is a story behind it - you just added to the story of yours!

Looks fine, you have to do what you have to do... very handy workmanship shines regardless of the materials used... well done, enjoy your ride..

Re: OK guys, don't laugh - seats
It's cool! Reminds me of the interior I had to improvise on the 34 Ford I had in high school back in the early 60's. Just have to do what you can, when you can, how you can & have fun doing it.

Re: OK guys, don't laugh - seats
I think it looks very neat, and serviceable. Good job! If you want to dress up those cardboard panels a little, 3M has a spray on adhesive you can use to glue some heavy felt to them, or better yet use those for patterns to cut some from 1/8" luan plywood to get you by for a while.
Good Luck |

Re: OK guys, don't laugh - seats
Burner, it is going to be pretty hard to find a paint color combo to match that front seat upholstery. By the way, what is the "Sleep Number" for that front seat?
