Default motor meter info help

I have a friend with a Boyce motor meter made for an A that clamps on the steering column it is a capillary tube type in what looks stainless loom with a bulb type end on it. How or where does this go in the engine? Thanks In advance.. Richard

If it's this style of tube, it's inserted and clamped into the upper rad hose.
