Default another gas filler neck question. 53 f100

I replaced the gas tank and am having a devil of a time getting the tank and the filler neck pressed inside the hose. I've tried to grease it, oil it, silicone it.
Right now the hose is on the tank and clamped. Seems like no way I'll get this filler neck in this way. I already tried it the other way around. Which way has anyone had the most luck with?

Thanks,

Bill

Gas neck to tank hoses are a tight fit .If you have the wrong size it is even tighter. Check to be sure you have the correct size hose.

Fresh out of goose grease or duck butter Lawson. wbedwards, since its a new tank, I might hit it with a heat gun, no chance of blowing it up. v12bill, this is the same hose as came off the durn thing. Only thing new is the tank and thats the only thing that the hose goes on. I'm kind of week after a ten month battle with the big c. (they tell me I was on the winning team). I can give it about 15 minutes a try. This has got to be one of the worst jobs on this truck for scraping up a fellows hands and wrists.
Thanks fellas

You would be shocked at all the things you can do with a heat gun once you spring for one.
