Generator ?
First of all let me say "hello, I am a new member to this site although I have been on several others for many years. I am here because I recently found the need for some specialized Ford information and was told this was the place to get the answers. I look forward to learning from those who will share.)
I have recently come acquired a 1934 Ford 4 door sedan which was restored many years ago but still look presentable and runs/drives well as a driver car. The only problem I have encountered is that the generator is not charging. Yes, still 6 v. I removed it and took it to local a rebuilder who has informed me that the armature is shorted to ground and I will need to either find an armature or find another, good, generator. Can anyone point me in the direction of someone who sells a replacement new or rebuilt unit or to a source for a used/rebuildable unit? Will any 6 v. early ford armature work in place of my bad one? Any help greatly appreciated. Chuck |

Re: Generator ?
Your location would help. Try to find one nearby as the shipping costs are a killer....

Re: Generator ?
Chuck, talk to Earl Grant (Fred). He's close to you.
If Earl can't help, give me a call & I'll dig around. Don |

How did you figure out where he lives? If he posted a general location and added it to his profile maybe someone else could help. Do you know if he has a 4 or 8? If it is a 4 I might be able to help. Charlie Stephens Last edited by Charlie Stephens; 10-20-2015 at 01:59 PM. |

Re: Generator ?
Sorry for not getting you guys all the information.
It is an eight cylinder and I am in southwest lower Michigan. Yes, I know Earl very well and I did call him first, however he is out of town for the rest of the week and suggested I get on this board and try and get an education on the early Fords while he is gone. He did say he would check for me when he got home. Would any of the armatures be the same? Or will I have to find one specific to the 33-? Thanks for the quick replies though, Chuck |

Re: Generator ?
I believe you will need to find a 32-34 armature part #18-10005 for your generator.

Re: Generator ?
Do you belong to the Early Ford V8 Club ? The club is an essential resource if you are
a flathead guy. If you don't belong find a buddy who does and go thru the member roster, most V8 guys have a pile of starters and generators in the corner collecting dust. Charlie ny |
