Hi.. I would say you have a burnt exhaust valve on number 2 cylinder. The engine will make a 'Fluffing' sound out the tail pipe.
Regards Kevin.

Like the 34 I bought in February, “ran fine when I drove it in the barn five years ago.” Engine locked up tighter than a drum. All water jackets completely plugged in heads and the block. Number four cylinder loaded with rusty crud. Resold car last week with FULL DISCLOSURE AND PHOTOS OF THE ENGINE.

As for guide seals, I haven't used them since back in the 60's, when I was explained why the original seals idn't work very well ans RTV could do the job better and easier. Before installing the valve guide and valve assy smear a small amt of RTV around the bottom of it. In those days RTV was just some whit stuff used for sealing windows. Now we have "stuff made for just that and it's used to seal intake manifolds. I also add alittle releasing stuff to the exhaust guilds, in caste I have to remove them at a later date,

The engine had only run 6000 miles after overhaul. At least we now know thats a lie.
Or, somebody's definition of what "overhaul" means is a bit OFF. What did you decide to do with the engine? Is it a babbit engine or a LB with insert bearings?
