How do I remove this heater switch knob?
I think it's for a 1947 Ford. I would like to remove just the plastic knob so I can unscrew it from the mounting plate. I
don't want to experiment and break something. Thanks. |

Re: How do I remove this heater switch knob?
I believe the knob just pulls straight off, there is a small groove in the metal shaft that aligns the knob so that it can be put back on the same position for the different speeds , also should be a small bulb in the metal shaft. my experience was this on mine .. the other hole in the mounting plate if for the Defrost pull sw.

Rustyspokes X 2. Pull the knob off. Remove the bulb. Un-screw the lock nut. Same setup as on my '46. Bulb should light when heater is "on". Good luck.

I tried pulling it straight off, but no luck. I sprayed it with WD 40- and will let it set for a while.

Re: How do I remove this heater switch knob?
I was finally able to remove the plastic knob using a brake spoon as a pry tool. Perhaps this will help others also. Thanks to all for the help.

Re: How do I remove this heater switch knob?
Just a tip, any of these push on type knobs etc. I have removed, I lightly coated the mating surfaces with Di-electric grease before reassembly. (makes any future removal easier)
