Steering wheel help
Can anyone help identify what steering wheel this may be from. This was in my 1935 truck. It is in decent shape and I am thinking of restoring it. I need to locate the center horn piece but have no idea what this may have come out of or if it is original to the truck.

Re: Steering wheel help
'54 Ford accessory steering wheel. The '52/'53 version was all white. The correct horn ring will likely be very hard to find.

Re: Steering wheel help
It’s a 53-54 Ford Accessory Steering Wheel. Looks like the center hub has been modified for earlier Ford steering shaft, like your 35, with a keyway. Not worth much in current condition especially without a horn ring.

Re: Steering wheel help
Restored wheels are very expensive. $3-4K in todays market.
It cost about $1300 to have it recast. Then add $1200 more for an excellent good horn ring if you can find one. https://www.google.com/search?q=1953...hrome&ie=UTF-8 |

Re: Steering wheel help
Ardun, You did good, especially for a "recast'. Ten years ago I paid $1100 to have this recast. Then add another $400 for rechroming the pot metal horn ring and the trim pieces if you're lucky enough to have them. Then $100 for center emblem.

Re: Steering wheel help
It doesn't look to be in bad enough shape to need to be recast. And I'm sure there's a demand for that wheel modified to fit an earlier column. I'm sure it's a few hundred dollar wheel as it sits. I'd start keeping an eye out for a horn ring. The limeworks reproduction horn ring is for the earlier crestliner wheel, so this will be a tough one to find.

Re: Steering wheel help
I have $1200 in my wheel including recasting, repairing and Chroming the horn ring. Most horn rings do not come with the horn blowing mechanism and one has to be careful when buying one. Also, the correct color horn button can be an issue as well as it’s quality. Yours looks very nice.
