Re: Hello new guy here
Welcome to the Fordbarn. Sounds like you picked up a nice car with only 26k miles. Expect plenty of good help here just for the asking. Please post some pictures of your car.

Be careful. Too much flathead can become addictive. At least that's what I've heard.....

Re: Hello new guy here
Canada had to separate the the dealers. Ford dealers wanted a larger upscale car (Monarch). Mercury dealers wanted the smaller less expensive model (Meteor). Both wanted pickups so they both had them with different trim.

Re: Hello new guy here
Following WW2, Ford of Canada introduced for the separated dealerships, a Mercury "114", this is their 'small' car, For the Mercury dealers. This is a Merc on a Ford Chassis, the regular Mercury was a 118 inch wheelbase.
For the Ford Dealers in 1946, they brought out the Monarch. It had a Ford instrument panel and Ford taillights, and a less busy grille. The two door sedans also had a rear vent window. The Merc flathead engine was 239 C.I. and 97 SAE horsepower. It did have the 118 inch wheelbase. The Meteor was introduced in the 1949 model year for the Mercury dealers, as their small car. Cheers, Byron.

Re: Hello new guy here
Welcome, I just acquired a 1947 Ford Super Deluxe. The members here at the Barn have been great. Im still in the process of trying to navigate the site, and locate members who may live close or may have a similar model and add them to my lists.
Have you posted any pictures? |
