Default Summer Drive In The Mercury

Some video I shot back in June while test driving the 52 Merc. Still had the ratty old seat in it at that time.

Love the dashboard and controls on those Merc's! The "coil spring action" looks like it may need shocks. Is the hubcap on the left front stock? It looks just like one on my '51 Ford with an emblem added. It sure looks like you had fun!

Fun is the operative word here. It has been a blast getting my dad's old car driving again. The left side cap is from about a 53 Meteor according to what I can tell. Just happened to have a pair of them in "inventory" and I liked the look of them better than the original full disk. Only one of the full disks survived.
I think I had the new front shocks on by the time that video was shot.Lots of wheel movement but the body rode pretty straight and level. It was a huge improvement over no shocks at all.

Ralph, you are having more fun with that 52 don't stop. I enjoy reading your posts. Being an old farm boy myself it was more fun getting them to run. I use to do same only with model a's.

Mike,at the time I shot that video I had to drain the anti freeze after every time I ran it or else lose all the coolant as the shaft seals leaked. Later on in the summer I got the new water pumps installed and solved the leakage problems.
