Default Fix for loose '49 trans rods and levers

Hi guys,
What have you done to take up the slop at the lower end of the shift rods?
I suppose heim joints would work but just curious what others have done.

I did some backyard engineering and came up with a temporary solution.
Made an oblong bushing out of stuff I had here.
Crazy I know but it works great.

If the problem is an oversize hole, I would weld it up and redrill it to the correct size.
