Default Steel Top Moldig

How do I bend the Steel Top Molding, A-47301-S, without deforming the shape?

It honestly would be a bigger help if you would tell us what that is, as that is not an original Ford part number. Can you post a picture of which Top moulding you are working with? Is it the one with the rubber insert used on late 1931's, -or the crimp type??

To answer the O/P's question, you will begin by painting the moulding lightly on the backside and allow to dry. We use painter's graphite (i.e.: 3M #5860) as a lubricant in the area where the two mouldings interlock.

Next we install the inner moulding begin at the centerline and work outwards approximately 12-18 inches from the centerline. This will allow the outer piece to be installed using a dead-blow hammer and a piece of hardwood to spray the hammer blow forces. Now work your way to the very end re-installing the outer piece to inner strip. Now you will be able to slowing work the shape into the moulding and the outer cover will slip within the inner moulding. Once you have the approximate shape of the moulding established, use a couple of screwdrivers to carefully remove the outer moulding. Work another 12" outward from the place you stopped nailing the inner piece on. Then attach the outer moulding onto the inner moulding for about ½ the distance you have nailed. Then repeat nailing more of the inner moulding and then attach the outer moulding as far as you can go and still have access to installing the remaining inner moulding.

By slowing forming and attaching the outer & inner mouldings as you go, you will not kink nor bend the two mouldings.

I wish people would get in the habit of providing a link to what they are referring to or asking about. Makes it a whole lot easier on the person attempting to provide an answer if they don't have to search.

Many times I skip over a discussion because I am to lazy to search for something someone is asking about that could easily have been provided.
