Lincoln Bumper
Reagrding the photos posted in "Lincoln" thread started by Highbeam. Notice the bumper on this car. I have a similar one in restorable condition. Several years ago with the help of a fellow Barner no one could positively identify it. After some internet research I read where some cars of that era didn't come with a bumper but were offered as a dealer option. I've seen pictures of similar bumpers on various makes and am curious to learn more. Anyone know the full story?

Re: Lincoln Bumper
Likely not early Lincoln given the unusual angle of the mounting brackets and bolt heads on the face.

Re: Lincoln Bumper
Maybe an aftermarket bumper? A little off topic but my Grandfather told me of new cars with 2X4 instead of the bumper due to the war. I remember the tire shortage in the 70's and cars came with bare rim for a spare.

Re: Lincoln Bumper
Most likely aftermarket. After searching this subject I couldn't find reputable sites on bumper evolution. They all give a perfunctory "history" lesson then at no surprise to me it ends up being an add for an autobody shop. This subject is not important to me however I am curious. Interestingly enough I found these 3 examples of similarly styled bumpers. 1927 lincoln, 1925 Buick and 1927 Nash. It must have been a style back then.

Re: Lincoln Bumper
Maybe a search(s) with various key words will bump us in the right direction.
