Marvel Mystery Oil

How many Fordbarners use Marvel Mystery Oil in your gasoline or in the oil? It has done wonders for my cars.

I use it in all my shop in-line air tool oilers.

4 oz every fillup plus some in the oil. Thanks to the Ford Barn for educating me about it. Also use it in the A's tow vehicle ('97 F250) and it made a huge difference - it was a marvel - ous difference. Why ? I have not idea but it worked wonders.

Every time I gas up. The fellow who rebuilt my engine told me it it is "top oil" and keeps the valves from hanging up. It offsets the unleaded gasoline.

I use it for every fill up as well. Have not tried it in the oil but I do add a dash each am to my coffee. Seems to make me step smoother !

What does "done wonders" mean? What differences have you seen?

I'm trying it in my A now. Add some at fill up just as preventitive medicine. We'll see if it does anything.

I carry a 4 oz. bottle of the oil for every fill-up, works good for the old Phaeton.....

I had a little valve sticking in a 31 Buick and it totally cleared that up. A great upper cylinder treatment when used in the gas. I can't remember if I've used it in the oil.

same here - no idea if it's actually doing anything for me (it's certainly not hurting), but it's cheap enough that I don't care about the cost, and if it DOES have a benefit, all the better...

My friend told me that if you have valve seats that are ground on the wider side, the unburnt Mystery Oil collects on them, causing carbon to stick. Thus, poorly sealing valves and eventually other problems. Not sure if there is any merit to his theory. Thoughts?

I've found that at modern highway speeds the babbitt pounds out long before the top cylinders wear out, so what's the use? Nobody around here seems to want to repour an engine without boring the cylinders out and doing the whole thing over.

Personally, I did have a sticky valve issue and a one-time dose of MMO seemed to help that.

In the A, it's use has smoothed out a rough idle; and, the engine does not backfire as we slow down at speed for a red light (that expression "at speed" is used loosely). You wont find any hills in our part of South Florida so can't speak for a decent on a steep hill. For the '97 F250 at 200,000 + miles, there has been a sharp improvement in acceleration. The truck was driving tired and as I wanted to use it for the Blue Ridge Tour,the Marvel was added. Put off getting a replacement truck any time soon.
