Default 31 Hood with 32 hinge

I bought a 31 coupe that had been started restoring about 25 years ago. It was store since then and never started being restored. Many parts came with it. Most paperwork had been kept with it when they were bought. There is a new hood still in the box, bought in 1994, on it is written 31 hood / 32 hinge. I opened it and the hinge is not the rod but made like a 32. Anyone know about this?

Probably came from here:http://www.rootlieb.com/ford-1928-31-hoods.html Some hot rod guys like this combo because the hinge pivot is hidden.

For that to work and look good you're going to need a 32 grill shell. JMO

I have such a hood on my speedster, with a '28 shell, looks great. Those hoods won't allow you to fold the hood over itself when opened. It is a a Rootlieb.

I don’t want to hijack the thread, but do you have a pic of you speedster’s hood?

I also have a 1930 Coupe with a '32 hood. Yes, the hood panel cannot fold all the way back but with the lower side panels installed you can keep the hood in an open position using the hood prop kit sold nearly everywhere. I also like the nice chrome strip in the center between the upper hood panels. I do have a '32 radiator shell because of the Chevy V-8 radiator. Sorry, guys. I know my car is a rod but still has so many original parts.

Sounds nice. Do you have pictures of your hood open and closed. Thank.
