1934 fuel gauge how to?
Had trouble finding the right words to search. In the ford bulletins it says with an eye dropper fill with the red fluid to the bottom line on the gauge if the gas tank is empty. I have about a gallon of gas so I think I can be a little above the bottom line correct.? Then just fasten the tube to the top of the gauge and I am done? Parts are a n.o.s. gas gauge, cappillary tube and the fluid. Am I missing anything you guys that have done this before. Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: 1934 fuel gauge how to?
Fill the red fluid to the zero mark pump your finger up and down on top of the hex to pump air in. This will raise the red fluid in in the glass. Hold your finger tight after the fluid raises and the fluid should stay at that level. Release your finger and the fluid should got to zero. When you hold your finger on the hex after pumping up the fluid up and it don't stay up you have an air leak. The gallon of gas in the tank don't have anything to do with the zero reading until the car is rocked up and down to put air bubbles under the bottom dome of the sending unit. This puts air pressure in the hex part of the gauge raising the fluid like you did pumping air with your finger. G.M.

Thanks everyone that answered my original post. Hooked it up according to the instructions given and it was very simple. A lot of times instructions are way more complicated than need be. Of course I was dealing with n.o.s. parts but still the same the procedure was very simple. Again thanks.

Your best bet would be to get the parts drawing from Ford.
