Default Carb rebuilders

Anyone care to recommend a good person to re-build Zenith carbs.

Thanks in advance.

Berts in Denver also offers rebuilt Zeniths. IIRC, they rebuild them in house.

Bert's in Denver does a fabulous job!

There is also Brentwood Bob here on Fordbarn who has started rebuilding Zenith carbs. Very nice man.

Quite frankly...you are the perfect guy to rebuild your carb. Parts are readily accessible and so is plenty of guidance on procedure. Check out Tom Endy's articles on carb rehab. I have one apart on the bench right now. New jets from Renner's are ready for install. Only tool I didn't have was a nice tap set, so Harbor Freight did the trick quite nicely. Can't wait to put it on the car and say..."I did that".

I tend to agree with mfarley. A carb is a simple thing to figure out and like he said, many good parts are available. Just buy an extra junker from EBAY or somewhere and see what you can do with it. But, you may end up paying more for the parts that you could get a great rebuilt one say from Bert's in Denver. But you would have had the "fun" of doing it yourself.

Fun, and there can be mistakes that damage the carb.
I tend to learn from others mistakes.
There's a reason for a core charge for a nonrebuildable
Core.

I sort of disagree with mfarley & others
Rebuilding a carburetor correctly ain't that easy
There are numerous passages that need to get cleaned/boiled out
and tolerances and specs met for one to perform adequately
Further most available parts (I.e. Repo Belong in the garbage imho)
Flow testing and run out adjustments are required
I'd go with experience and someone who respects original jets and parts

I have rebuilt a few and they do not perform properly,I think because of the lousy repro parts.I run a model B carb that I bought 40 years ago,I never opened it and it runs great.I would send your carb out,I believe if you rebuild it yourself it won't be satisfactory.

It is really easy to fill cavities in teeth also, but you don't do that yourself, you pay an experienced professional to do that.

It is really easy to sew up a deep gash in your arm, but you don't do that yourself either.

Yes, it is easy to rebuild a Zenith carburetor, but you send it to an experienced professional so it gets done properly the first time. Like Bob said, it can be damaged by an inexperienced rebuilder, and the repro parts are less than ideal. An experienced carb rebuilder makes a huge difference. I have rebuilt dozens of Zeniths for club members and friends, it is not easy unless you have access to the proper parts and tools and knowledge.

There is no shame in sending it out. After you gather some junkers to play with and a bunch of parts and books and gain the knowledge to do it properly, that's different.
